Warning signs

When to bring it in

Catch it early and it usually costs less. If you notice any of these, book a check.

Slow crank

The engine turns over sluggishly, especially on cold mornings.

Battery light on

Often the alternator, not the battery. We test both.

Dim or flickering lights

A weak battery or failing alternator can't keep up.

Clicking, no start

A single click can be the starter; rapid clicks usually a flat battery.

Corroded terminals

White or green build-up stops current getting through.

Battery over 4 years old

Most batteries last 3 to 5 years in Ontario weather.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does a car battery last?

Typically 3 to 5 years. Heat, short trips and cold winters shorten it. We test it free of guesswork in minutes.

Do I need a boost or a new battery?

If it boosts and then holds a charge on test, it may be fine. If it fails a load test or keeps dying, it's time to replace it.

How much is a battery replacement?

Battery replacement starts at $240 installed. The exact price depends on the battery your car needs.

Could it be the alternator instead?

Yes. A battery light while driving, dimming lights or a new battery dying quickly all point to the alternator. Our charging test checks it.
